LLLT is effective for both men and women at early stages of hair loss. It is intended only for cases where the hair is thinning or miniaturizing. Once hair is completely gone, the light will be generally less effective. In these cases, surgery is the preferred method for hair restoration. However, LLLT can be used alongside surgery to help improve surgical graft growth and to reverse any thin or miniaturized hair. LLLT can complement other therapies, such as minoxidil and/or finasteride or it can be an effective standalone method to help hair loss.
